Ternium in Mines


Ternium’s mining operations are located in the states of Colima, Jalisco and Michoacán.

Las Encinas and Peña Colorada are both dedicated to the search for high quality minerals for steel production.

Las Encinas is completely owned by Ternium, while the Peña Colorada’s property is shared equally with Arcelor Mittal.

Considered globally, and including the full amount of production of Peña Colorada, Ternium has an annual achievable production capacity of 5.9 million tons of pellet and 0.4 million tons of fine steel.

Once the iron ore is extracted is sent to the company’s production plants in Monterrey and Puebla to elaborate a broad range of steel products.
